As you build your Chocolate Milk Maker, don’t hesitate to play around with the configuration. Maybe you don’t like our squeezing mechanism, or you want to try your hand at a different sort of pump, or you want to dispense into a larger glass. Do it! On the other hand, if you just want to build a drinkbot, just follow these steps to get a robot that dispenses a refreshing glass of chocolate milk with the press of a button!
First, we’ll build the assembly that draws milk out of the jug and pours it into the cup. Though we’re tempted to call the entire assembly the pump, more properly only the aquarium pump deserves that term. The milk jug is called an “air-pressurized reservoir.” It’s similar in many ways to a Super Soaker squirt gun, which you pump to pressurize the water tank to make the water squirt out. In our case, we don’t need to squirt milk thirty feet—just far enough to get it into the cup.
