Let’s begin the Lamp project by gathering together all the parts you need. One of the most surprising may be a phone (Figure 9-2) that we use to control the lamp via Bluetooth. However, if you just want to control the lamp manually, that works too!
You’ll need the following non-Lego parts to build your lamp:
Arduino Uno
Bricktronics Shield
Mounting plate for Arduino
Power supply rated for 9V at 1.3A or greater with a 2.1mm center-positive plug. This provides power to the Arduino.
Bluetooth Shield (Seeedstudio PN SLD63030P)
PowerSwitch Tails. We used the PowerSSR Tail and the ZeroCross Tail, available at http://powerswitchtail.com.
Night light (any standard incandescent light found in hardware and grocery stores will be fine)
