There are several pieces of major (read “expensive”) equipment that we’ll mention for completeness. Few homeschoolers will have the need (or budget) for these items, but all of them are important for DIY biology enthusiasts. In some cases, there are usable workarounds or inexpensive hacks that avoid the need for these items, often at the expense of producing less accurate results or requiring more time and effort to use. We use many of these hacks ourselves, but if biology is your hobby and you can afford the real items, by all means buy them.
