If you have not already done so, put on your goggles, gloves, and protective clothing.

Transfer 5.0 mL of water to one test tube and 5.0 mL of isopropanol to a second test tube. Place the tubes in the rack.

Use a pipette to add 0.5 mL of vegetable oil to each of the test tubes. Agitate the tubes and replace them in the rack.

Allow the tubes to remain undisturbed for a minute or so, and then record your observations in your lab notebook.
