Why do I have an entire chapter dedicated to beeps? Because they are important! Specifically, it is important to listen to the beeps that come after the flash sequence because they tell you how your Remote flashes performed. When I set up my flashes for wireless Remote photography, I keep the beeps turned on so I can audibly tell if they are working properly. (Note: The Custom Settings Menus sections in Chapters 4, 5, 6, and 7 show how to turn on the beeps for the SB-600, SB-800, SB-700, SB-900, and SB-910.)
The only time the SB-600, SB-800, SB-700, SB-900, and SB-910 flashes beep is when they are configured as Remote units. In other words, if you have an SB-700 mounted on your D3s as a regular Dedicated TTL BL flash, it won’t beep. If, on the other hand, you configure the SB-700 as a Remote flash, the beeps will be automatically activated.
