The SB-R200 flashes are fantastic units designed to work in close proximity to the subject. Since Nikon designed them primarily for macro and close-up work, they aren’t very powerful and can’t really be used to light up an entire room.
To use the SB-R200 as a Remote flash, you need some type of Commander to send instructions to it. The Commander can be an SB-700, SB-800, SB-900, SB-910, SU-800, or the pop-up flash from a D70, D80, D90, D200, D300, D300s, D7000, or D700.
Configuring the SB-R200 as a Remote is simple because there are no custom menus or other hidden setups. Just turn it on, set the Channel and group, and start taking photographs. Here are the steps:
1. Turn on flash.
2. Use dials to set Channel and group.
