If you use a lens with an angle wider than 24 mm, it makes good sense to pull out the Wide-Flash Adapter (figure 5.4). Notice that when you deploy it, the flash automatically zooms to 17 mm (figure 5.5). This means that the Wide-Flash Adapter allows an angle of coverage the same as a 17 mm lens. If you don’t deploy it in this situation, you run the risk of light falloff in the corners of the photograph (figures 5.6 and 5.7).

You can also zoom the flash to 14 mm by pressing the zoom buttons (tree-shaped icons) on the SB-800. When the Wide-Flash Adapter is deployed, only two zoom settings are available: 14 mm and 17 mm.
