The light cube is significantly larger than the small light tent; therefore it is a good idea to think about the objects you want to photograph during the planning process. Take into consideration that the objects need to have enough distance from the sides (e.g., to include larger backgrounds), and that there should be enough space to set up lighting equipment.

To photograph large objects without distracting reflections, the light cube needs to be of considerable size.

You can construct a light box with a rectangular shape using different lengths of panels, which will allow you to use it horizontally or vertically. If you want to use the cube outside, you should make sure that the whole structure fits through your door and hallway. After deciding on the measurements, you begin by building the frame. The frame consists of aluminum rods (5/16” or 8 mm thick) and wooden building blocks, which serve as corner joints.
