Career Management Is a Lifelong Process

No matter how thoughtfully you choose your career goal now, your career will most likely change over the course of your life. Some experts estimate that the average person will change careers three to five times and change jobs ten or more times during their working years.

That is a lot of change, which makes it important for you to know what you are particularly good at doing and develop those skills throughout your life. As your interests change or new job opportunities arise, you may choose to develop new skills or emphasize existing ones in new and creative ways.

Career Change Versus Job Change

A career change is a change in the type of work you do. A job change involves moving from one employer to another—and doing a similar job for both—but a career change is a more substantial change.
