Endnotes 61 SuMMARy In review, we've carefully examined a case study dealing with real-life phishing attacks. Hopefully you've gotten a much better insight into the nature of phishing attacks, what they do, how they target ­ and most importantly, what's at risk. We've seen the level of thought put behind these types of attacks and examined in depth what to look out for, along with measures to perform your own investigation, and looked at ways in which to report suspicious offerings. Keep in mind that phish- ing attacks first exploit your emotions and throw out matters of urgency in order to lower your guard to be successful. No one is exempt to falling prey to these attacks. Remember, a lot of these attacks are well orchestrated and originate from organized crime. Some phishing attacks are very convincing and can catch even the most sea- soned expert off guard if the message is conveyed convincingly enough. Don't fault yourself too much if you fall prey to one of these attacks; just be sure to take immedi- ate action if in the event you are to fall victim. Even if you don't fall victim and fig- ure out the puzzle, don't stand idle during these attacks. Protect others by reporting suspicious e-mails and sites. While you yourself may not fall victim at this particular time, others may, and it's up to us as good digital citizens to look out for one another.
