All of it was gained from a few social engineering phone calls and about an hour search- ing the Internet for information about them. Much of the information about these people (and possibly about you) was out on the Internet. It's not easy, but these people-finding search engines all have an opt-out option to have your name and contact information removed from their databases. Just type the words "people search engines" into www.google.com for the most recent list of these services. You should put your name in some of them to see what information is out there about you. You will most likely be surprised at how many places your name pops up. CHECK THOSE PHONE CLOSETS If your building is in rented space, or in a multi-tenant building, it's a good idea to have someone perform a thorough check of your hard wiring for the phone lines. You don't know who was in there before you were, and old wiring is sometimes not re- moved when new tenants move in. On more than one occasion, our teams found old
