DESIGNS OF COMBINATORIAL LIBRARIES OF SENSING MATERIALS The broad goals of combinatorial development of sensing materials are to discover and optimize per- formance parameters and to optimize fabrication parameters of sensing materials. The key perfor- mance and fabrication parameters of sensing materials are outlined in Figure 3.3. Factors affecting performance of sensing material films are also summarized in Figure 3.3 and can be categorized as those originating from the sample, the sample/film interface, the bulk of the film, and the film/sub- strate interface.
