276 CHEMICAL SENSORS: FUNDAMENTALS. VOLUME 2: NANOSTRUCTURED MATERIALS sensors based on porous semiconductors can be expected in using porous SiC and GaN. However, there are not yet enough experimental results from studies of gas sensors based on those materials to draw any integrating conclusions. One can suppose that adoption of new measuring approaches using specific porous materials would lead to a considerable widening of the area of application of porous semiconductorbased gas sensors. For example, the possibilities of porous semiconductorbased gas sensors would be significantly wider if one could use them for detection of gas adsorption FTIR spectroscopy, analysis of the multiple lumi- nescence peak structures, and effects of optical birefringence of porous silicon. 6.
