You can change two parameters in BBEdit’s Application preference pane: how many items are shown (ten is the default), and whether or not paths are displayed.

In Case of Emergency

While you’re tapping away in BBEdit, you may wonder, “What would happen if the power suddenly went out? Or, heaven forfend, if BBEdit encountered an exceedingly improbable error condition and crashed?”

Dear reader, Bare Bones has anticipated those scenarios. In fact, this has been one of the most-welcome yet least-heralded features of BBEdit for many years: by default, the program automatically and continuously saves edits to a document just in case of an unexpected termination. On the next relaunch, BBEdit automatically reopens such documents and includes all the unsaved changes that it captured. (This feature cannot be disabled.)
