Case study 1 (age 25): Chrissy’s counting on a cushy ;retirement

Chrissy is aged 25 and starts a new job paying $50 000 a year. She currently has no super because she was previously self-employed. Chrissy has watched her grandparents struggle on the Age Pension, and now her parents are struggling because her mother has had to retire early due to ill-health. Her family’s experience has motivated Chrissy to start planning for her retirement, even though her friends think she’s mad to worry about it at such a young age. The first bit of good news that Chrissy discovers is that her employer will pay $4500 a year into a super fund on her behalf, just for Chrissy turning up for work each day.
