Summary

We've learned a lot about jQuery UI theme icons in this chapter. We've also learned about the roles icons play in user interfaces. Icons are most effective when they add meaning to user interface components, and as a side-effect, reduce the amount of redundant text.

The jQuery UI theming framework allows icons to be used both in widgets as well as being placed on the page as stand-alone elements. Different icon images files are used depending on the state of the icon. This is made possible by using a sprite technique to arrange icons. The only difference between the image files is their colors.
