5. Testing BAM Applications > Testing BAM report Views

Testing BAM report Views

Testing BAM report Views A BAM dashboard or report may contain multiple views, and each view in a report is comprised of view data and view properties. This section provides guidelines for testing BAM report views, which can help you to build test cases to verify the functionalities of a BAM report. Testing View data View data is the key component for designing BAM report views. To perform comprehensive testing on view data for a particular view, you have to build test cases to cover the following functional areas: Data Object and field selections - verify if the field selections and their display orders meet application requirements.Verify if report filter conditions are set properly as per the requirements.Verify if drilling/driving are configured properly as per the requirements, and if they work as expected.Calculations - report-level calculations are similar to Data Object calculated fields. You need to build test cases to verify the validity and accuracy of the calculation result.Verify if Sort and TopN work as expected.Verify that the Views using time or timestamps show the correct time/time-zone information. Tip It would be easier to verify the test result using a small set of data, rather than a large amount of data. Ensure that no other users use the system or trigger data mutations in any other way while testing functional parts of a report, as described in the following sections. Testing View properties The major objective of testing View properties is to verify if the display characteristics of a report View type meet the application specifications and requirements. The following checklist gives you some guidelines for testing View properties: Verify if report layouts are set properly as per the requirementVerify if the fonts, the colors, and the styles are set properly and consistently as per the requirementVerify if value formats comply with the requirementsIf a report uses multiple tabs, check whether the tab name is meaningful and contains correct sub views
