Chapter 9 Applying the FACTS The best leader is indistinguishable from the will of those who selected him or her. (Tao Te Ching, Verse 17) I n the previous chapters we have discussed the FACTS model in detail to explain the concept and approach of challenging coach- ing. In this chapter we focus more on the practical application of FACTS on a day-to-day basis from the perspective of a leader. As well as being writers and coaches we are also business people, so everything we do must make a difference. Everything we do has to have a purpose to improve the performance of individuals, teams, and organizations. This book has been written not as an intellectual discussion, but as a practical guide. As one colleague frequently said, "This is where the rubber hits the road."
