INTRODUCTION

The format of the exam and the structure of the questions is different to many exams and certainly different to the ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management or ITIL V2 Foundation and the V3 bridging certificate. Therefore, it is important that time on the course and subsequently is spent on looking at sample questions. This will save time in the exam proper and avoid confusion as to what is required. For this purpose four sample exam questions are presented in Appendix 2, with the answers and the rationale.

Candidates can sit an Intermediate exam for the first time only as part of an accredited training course. If a candidate fails the examination, they may resit it by joining another invigilated examination at the end of an accredited course without attending the training. Candidates do not need to join another SOA course, but can sit the SOA examination on any other invigilated course with the permission of the trainer(s) and the accredited training provider, and by prior submission to the relevant examination board (this is normally done on the candidate’s behalf by the training provider).
