2.4. Summary

In this chapter, you built a basic, but fully functioning, Lift application with SBT. In addition, you’ve had a high-level overview of some of Lift’s templating and snippet functionality. You should now have a good idea of how a Lift application is assembled and be aware of some of the high-level components that can be used to get it off the ground. These include the powerful concept of snippets that transform input XML to dynamically rendered output, and the way Lift assists you in keeping your template code concise and empowers you to not repeat yourself.

Importantly, though, you put in place the building blocks for the main application that you’ll be building during the course of the book. In the next chapter, you’ll enhance the application and start to design and implement some of the core functionality. This will take us deeper into Lift’s snippet system, and you’ll learn about database connectivity with Mapper.
