10.4. Accessing other databases

When building your web site, I hope you’ve appreciated how incredibly convenient it is to use Service Builder. This utility is fantastic when building your site from scratch. But what about existing data? Can you access existing data with Service Builder? Of course you can! It’s not as easy as starting with your application from scratch, but considering the alternatives, it’s still a time saver that will help you get to production faster.

The first part of this involves some Spring configuration. This will be familiar to those who have done the Spring/Hibernate thing before—and I’m sure many of you have.
