9.1. Introducing Ext plugins

Liferay’s Extension plugin is the ultimate in customizing Liferay. No other portal gives you the level of customization that Liferay does through the Ext plugin. You can literally change anything in Liferay, up to and including making it into your own product. The amount of power it gives you is unparalleled. We’ll call this Great Power.

Of course, as Spiderman has learned, with Great Power comes great responsibility. Because you have access to all of Liferay’s internal APIs when using the Ext plugin, you can also run into trouble, particularly when moving to new versions of Liferay.
