Oracle Deinstaller

Traditionally the Oracle Universal Installer was also used to deinstall Oracle software, in addition to serving as the installation mechanism. This dual role for the Installer was not always ideal, as deinstallation was sometimes not clean or complete. A series of deinstallation and reinstallation attempts sometimes created significant problems.

About The Deinstaller

Starting with Oracle 11g R2, the deinstallation function has been segregated into a separate tool. For reasons of safety, the deinstallation directory is not located within the path configured by the Installer for locating Oracle software executables. Therefore, one must change to the deinstallation directory to find the tool. One launches the Deinstaller as follows in Linux.
