2.10. Types of Homojunctions

Just pressing together a section of n-type material to a p-type material cannot produce a rectifying homojunction. In order to produce a proper p-n homojunction, both types of semiconductors should be a single crystal, but divided into p-type and n-type impurity regions. This can be done in various ways. The semiconductor diodes are classified depending upon the method of constructions as:

  • Grown homojunction

  • Alloy homojunction

  • Diffused homojunction

  • Epitaxial plannar
