Chapter 7. Animating with Keyframes > Modifying Keyframes

Modifying Keyframes

Sometimes you can set a few keyframes and everything works just the way you want. But most of the time you will want to modify the keyframes to make them behave a little or a lot differently. Perhaps you need several keyframes on different objects to line up with each other. Or you want to change the value of a keyframe. Or you’d like to change the way the object animates as it moves between keyframes.

There are two tabs in the Timing pane that allow you to modify your object and effect keyframes: the Timeline and the Keyframe Editor (Audio keyframes are modified in the third tab, the Audio Editor, which is covered in Chapter 14). The Timeline allows you to view and change the timing of keyframes, whereas the Keyframe Editor provides tools to make more detailed, precise adjustments to keyframes and the paths between them, which are called curves in Motion.
