Chapter 1. Meet Your New Toys

If you’ve been using Adobe InDesign to create pages for print, you’re probably comfortable with InDesign’s interface and way of thinking. So don’t be hesitant about branching out into the new interactive features of InDesign CS5; theyll feel immediately familiar to you even if you’ve never used any other tool to create animation or interactive content. That’s the whole idea!

Think of this chapter as a sort of warm-up lap to introduce you to the new tools you’ll be using. As you explore the new panels and features, you’ll add animation and interactive elements to a lesson file and discover how painless (and fun) it can be. You’ll learn how to apply and modify motion animation to make a headline drop gracefully into a page, how to import and play video, and how to preview your work before exporting. You’ll even make a slideshow from simple graphic frames.
