14.8. Animating VSE effects

Animation is done through the sequence mode of the Ipo, shown in the header of the Ipo window type. The counter at the bottom of the Ipo window (the x-axis) is the percentage complete of the strip, regardless of its length. The y-axis runs from 0 to 1.0 and reflects the percentage application of the effect. To demonstrate, let's animate a title to fade out as the first shot starts, so that it has a smoother transition. In the Ipo window, select Ipo type Sequence and select the scene strip. At around 75%, Ctrl-click to place a control point at 1.0, and then at 100%, Ctrl-click at 0, giving an Ipo curve like that shown in Figure 14-17, which should fade out the title as the first clip starts. In this case, the Ipo curve is animating the general opacity.
