Chapter 10. Editing MIDI > Editing Notes with Identical Pitch

Editing Notes with Identical Pitch

In many situations, you'll need to edit all notes of a particular pitch. If a phrase was difficult to play, the resulting part may contain multiple incorrect notes with the same pitch. A part may also contain a good performance, but you might decide that a particular chord sounds better without one of the notes.

If you are creating drum parts, each pitch plays a different sound; a C note might play a snare drum, and a C# note might play a snare drum with a hi-hat. Editing all notes on one pitch is very handy in this situation, because when you change the note, you will change the drum sound that is triggered. The following task shows you how to do precisely that: move the notes triggering one drum sound so that they trigger another drum sound.
