Viewing Top Tracks and Albums

When it comes to discovering new music, nothing beats finding out what others are listening to. To that end, Spotify publishes two real-time “top music” lists that display the most popular songs and albums among Spotify users.

You display these top music lists by clicking the Top Lists item in the Apps section of Spotify’s navigation pane. As you can see in Figure 19.1, there are two of these lists—Top Tracks and Top Albums. Each list displays the 100 most listened-to items by Spotify users.

By default, the Top Lists page displays the top tracks and albums in the U.S. However, you can change this to display the top items in the entire world, in specific countries, or that you yourself have listened to. All you have to do is click the down arrow at the top of either list, as shown in Figure 19.2, and make a selection from the pull-down menu:
