Chapter 3. The Dr. Rex Loop Player

Chapter 3. The Dr. Rex Loop Player

In this chapter we'll take our first in-depth look at a Reason instrument: The Dr. Rex Loop Player. The Dr. Rex is used to play back, alter, edit, and sequence loop files. The most common types of loops used in the Dr. Rex are drums and percussion, but the Dr. Rex is not limited to working with any specific type of looped performance. Synthesizers, guitars, and bass lines are all frequently found in Reason ReFills and other REX file collections. Any kind of instrumental performance or sound that can be recorded can be converted to a REX format loop for use in Reason. The versatility of the Dr. Rex means that you can quickly get started creating entire tracks and Reason songs with this one device.
