A doubled note is usually not something you want when you’re creating a MIDI part. Doubled notes often happen during quantization, when one note is pulled to the same exact place as another note on the grid. They can also occur when you overdub a part and play over an existing note.
Just how a doubled note sounds usually depends on the sound you are using with your synth or sampler. Sometimes, the effect of a doubled note is not noticeable. Other times, however, the doubled note creates a phased sound. Although you might sometimes like this effect, it is often unwanted.
