32. The Beauty of Liberal Arts Colleges > Finding Liberal Arts Colleges

Finding Liberal Arts Colleges

Liberal arts colleges are scattered around the country, though they are in shorter supply in the West. You’ll find a list by visiting the website of the Annapolis Group, which is an organization composed of 130 liberal arts colleges (www.collegenews.org/annapolis-group-member-colleges).

Another resource is Colleges That Change Lives, which is a book and website that share the same name. The late Loren Pope, a former education editor of The New York Times, wrote the book as a tribute to liberal arts colleges and highlights 40 specific institutions. After his newspaper days, Pope became a college counselor, but he was discouraged by the fixation on Ivy League schools because he believed that liberal arts colleges often provided as good, if not better, education.
