The results of formal assessments are seen as an indicator of the course and qualification quality. For example: If a large number of students achieve certification, then the course has a good chance of meeting its targets for retention and achievement. These results feed into the results for organizational targets, which have been set to meet government targets, and these results in turn affect the future funding received by the organization. If a high proportion of students achieve qualifications, then it is seen as one indication that the course is being taught well and the learners are learning effectively.
