Three Key Questions to Identify Your BVP

The questions that follow will help you identify your BVP. (Before answering these questions, review the CAR stories you wrote in step 5 of the preceding chapter to help get your creative juices flowing.)

1. What is the most intractable problem facing the employers you are targeting in your search? (This may take some research and networking to answer.)
2. How have you used your brand and skills in the past to resolve similar problems? Choose the single most impressive story to describe this.
3. What was the bottom-line benefit and ultimate impact of doing so?

Draft a short story about these answers, and don’t be concerned about the wording at this point. It often takes multiple drafts to condense your BVP into powerful, persuasive language. And, in the next chapter, you’ll have a chance to laser it even further into a 160-character Twitter bio.
