Chapter 4. Security > Recognize Security Breaches and Ways to Resolve Them

Recognize Security Breaches and Ways to Resolve Them

Despite your taking protective steps to prevent security problems, problems still occur. For example, your system may become infected with a virus missed by your AV software. When it happens, you need to take steps to overcome the problem, such as removing the virus. You can also take proactive steps to prevent the security problems from occurring again.

Recognize the Proper Diagnostic Procedures When Infected with a Virus

The most common security breach is an infection from a virus. Although this isn’t a desirable experience, you can take steps to eliminate the virus before it causes too much damage. When a system is infected with a virus, it often gives erratic symptoms. It may run slower, periodically lock up, or randomly reboot. Other times, users may find they aren’t able to access certain websites or update their system. When you suspect an infection, you should run an antivirus scan as soon as possible.
