Chapter 10: Closing the Project > Preparing for Project Closure

Preparing for Project Closure

You’ve made it to the end of the project and to the end of the project life cycle. The Closing process group is the last set of processes you’ll perform for the project. Two processes are involved in the Closing process group: Close Project or Phase and Close Procurements. Before we get into the specifics of the processes, we’ll cover some of the common characteristics of project closure and the types of project endings.

Characteristics of Closing

A few characteristics are common to all projects during the Closing processes. You’ve already completed the majority of the work of the project—if not all of the work—so the probability of not finishing the project is very low. Risk is very low in this process group also because the work is completed. There’s little chance that a risk would occur at the very end that would derail the project.
