Reviewing Cisco Enterprise Architecture

The rich variety of application-level business solutions available today, and the need to integrate these applications, has driven the establishment of a new network architecture. This chapter reviews the hierarchical network model. It also discusses how Cisco network architectures for the enterprise take into account new developments in the enterprise environment, such as worker mobility, collaboration across the enterprise, and the use of data and desktop virtualization. The chapter describes how network services can be leveraged to deliver consistent application performance and user experience across the enterprise network Borderless Network. It also identifies and describes modularity in the enterprise architecture.
