Computer Telephony Interface/Integration (CTI) provides a connection between telephone systems and computers and allows them to take advantage of computer processing when managing phone calls. CTI integration with CUCM allows external applications to control call behavior.

Telephony Application Programming Interface (TAPI) and Java Telephony Application Programming Interface (JTAPI) clients can interact with CUCM using CTI communication via CTIManager.

JTAPI is an object-oriented application programming interface (API) for Java-based telephony applications and supports telephony call control.

TAPI is a standard developed by Microsoft that allows Windows-based PCs to interface with telephony applications.
