To configure basic IPS using the IOS CLI, complete these steps:
1. Create an IOS IPS configuration directory in flash.
2. Copy the Cisco IOS IPS signature package to flash.
3. Configure an IOS IPS crypto key.
4. Create an IPS rule and specify the location of the IPS signature file.
5. Enable SDEE and logging event notification.
6. Modify signature categories.
7. Assign the IPS rule to an interface.
Download the latest signature package (IOS-Sxxx-CLI.pkg) and crypto file (realm-cisco.pub.key.txt), the latter of which contains the public key from Cisco.com (CCO login is required).
