Cisco Unified Presence Solutions Components

The Cisco Unified Presence portfolio contains many components using various protocols to deliver value-added resources to Cisco Unified Communications. When integrated, they provide features that allow users freedoms that they have not previously known. Consider, for example, the ability to display how you can be contacted while sitting in an airport or at another user’s desk. This is where presence comes into play. Presence is the ability to share a user’s status and ways the user can be contacted by pushing that information (or status) to all interested parties. The ways in which presence can be used are by phone, email, video conferencing, mobile phone, desktop applications, and calendaring.

How Does Presence Work?

Three components comprise presence:
