Often security exploits are discovered that require you to download and apply software patches to clients in your organization. Other times, companies might release new features to applications that you have deployed across your organization—features that also require you to install updates. As the number of patches and updates grows, the process of deploying updates in this manner has become a critical yet complex task for the network administrator.

As an administrator, you must devise a strategy to handle the enormous number of software updates that must be deployed throughout your organization. As an answer to this need, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) helps you simplify the management and deployment of updates for Windows and other Microsoft software within your organization.
