Appendix B. Overview of the Certification Process

You must pass rigorous certification exams to become a Microsoft Certified Professional. These closed-book exams provide a valid and reliable measure of your technical proficiency and expertise. Developed in consultation with computer industry professionals who have experience with Microsoft products in the workplace, the exams are conducted by two independent organizations. Sylvan Prometric offers the exams at more than 2,000 authorized Prometric Testing Centers around the world. Virtual University Enterprises (VUE) testing centers offer exams at more than 1,400 locations as well.
