    Configuring the Firewall to Reply to Ping

    By default, the firewall on the Server Core installation blocks all ping requests. Pings from other servers time out because the echo requests are not answered with echo replies. If you want to enable the server to reply to pings, use the following command:

    netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8
