Chapter 11. Configuring Backup and Restore

This chapter covers the following subjects:

• Protecting Data with Windows Backup: When problems arise with your servers, you must have the ability to recover them to a known good point in time. This section describes the various types of backup that you can perform to protect your valuable data.

• Volume Shadow Copies: Users occasionally make inappropriate modifications to their documents or these documents might become corrupted for reasons beyond their control. Volume shadow copies enables users to restore documents to a good point in time without the need for performing a complete restore procedure.

• Restoring Data from Backup: Windows Server 2008 provides several options for recovering data stored on your file servers, including a complete server or bare metal recovery that enables you to recover your server completely should major problems occur.
