5. Working with User-Defined Controls

Chapter 5. Working with User-Defined Controls

Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Windows Forms both provide support for creating your own controls when the pre-built controls do not provide the required functionality for your application. In this chapter, you learn how to create custom controls in both Windows Forms and WPF and user controls in Windows Forms and how to extend preexisting controls through inheritance. You also learn to extend the appearance of standard WPF elements by providing new control templates that alter their appearance and behavior while retaining their inherent functionality. Finally, you learn how to create custom WPF controls completely from the beginning.
