Group Policy Objects

A GPO is a series of settings that can be applied to a local computer, site, domain, or organizational unit (OU). Each GPO is identified by its Globally Unique Identifier (GUID), which is a 128-bit number assigned when the GPO is created. This identifier is unique to the forest and is stored as an attribute used to identify it within the Active Directory hierarchy.
