Previous versions of Microsoft Windows Server supported many networking protocols. Windows Server 2008 R2 no longer supports many of these protocols, including BAP, X.25, SLIP, ATM, IP over IEEE 1394, NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol, SFM, several components of Routing and Remote Access (OSPF, Basic Firewall, and static IP filter APIs), SPAP, EAP-MD5-CHAP, and MS-CHAP v1 authentication protocols for PPP-based connections.
