Using Diagnostic Utilities

Objective: Given output from a network diagnostic utility (for example: those utilities listed in objective 4.1), identify the utility and interpret the output.

The utilities described in the previous section provide you with a comprehensive toolkit for troubleshooting problems on a TCP/IP-based network. So far we have discussed the tools and looked at when and why you might use them. In this section, we'll look more closely at what you can learn from the information these tools provide. This information is what you will use to locate and fix problems on the network.
