Oracle9i New & Advanced Features For Developers Page 418 About The Workspace Manager What Is The Oracle Workspace Manager? The Oracle Workspace Manager (WM) is a collection of database packaged procedures that provides a mechanism for users to maintain multiple versions of rows within the same table. As an application or user changes the current values of a row via standard DML activity (e.g. insert, update, delete) the prior values are maintained persistently for each row and can be revisited as needed for a variety of purposes. Workspace Manager allows multiple versions of a row to be maintained in separate areas, or workspaces. This provides different users or applications the ability to maintain their own collection of changes to the same data. The original table with its usual functionality exists in a default or production workspace known as LIVE. WM Illustrated
