About the Authors

David R. Miller (SME, MCT, MCITPro, MCSE:Security, CISSP, CWNA, LPT, ECSA, CEH, CCNA, CNE, Security+, A+, N+, etc.) is a security, information technology, and network engineering consultant; an instructor; and an author and technical editor of books, curriculum, certification exams, and computer-based training videos. David is a compliance consultant specializing in information systems security. He also regularly performs as a Microsoft Subject Matter Expert (SME) on such product lines as Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows Server 2008, and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.

In addition to co-writing Security Administrator Street Smarts, 1st Edition (ISBN: 9780470102589) and 2nd Edition (ISBN: 9780470404850) for Sybex and Wiley Publishing, David has written two books for Microsoft Press: Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Administration (ISBN: 9780735625099) and Designing a Messaging Infrastructure Using Exchange Server 2007 (ISBN: 9780735624092). He has also co-written two Exam Cram books for QUE: MCITP 70-622 Exam Cram: Supporting and Troubleshooting Applications on a Windows Vista Client for Enterprise Support Technicians (ISBN: 9780789737199) and MCITP 70-623 Exam Cram: Supporting and Troubleshooting Applications on a Windows Vista Client for Consumer Support Technicians (ISBN: 9780789737205). He is a technical editor for McGraw-Hill, as well as for Logical Security's Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) training materials by Shon Harris.

David has written curriculum and performed instruction for computer-based training videos on ISC2's CISSP and the Systems Security Certified Practitioner SSCP certifications, as well as CompTIA's Security+ certification. He is under contract to write and perform instruction on a video series covering the Microsoft IT Pro certification track (which replaces the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, or MCSE, certification) for Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Server 2008.

David has lectured on network engineering and information systems security to prestigious groups, including The Smithsonian Institution, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Army Advanced Battle Command, the U.S. Department of the Interior, Oracle Corporation, and JPMorgan Chase & Co. Global Financial Services.

Michael Gregg (CISSP, SSCP, CISA, MCSE, MCT, CTT+, A+, N+, Security+, CNA, CCNA, CIW Security Analyst, CCE, CEH, CHFI, DCNP, and ES Dragon IDS) is the founder and president of Superior Solutions, Inc., a Houston, Texas-based IT security consulting firm. Superior Solutions performs security assessments and penetration testing for Fortune 1000 firms. The company has performed security assessments for private, public, and governmental agencies. Its Houston-based team travels the country to assess, audit, and provide training services.

Michael is responsible for working with organizations to develop cost-effective and innovative technology solutions to security issues and for evaluating emerging technologies. He has more than 20 years of experience in the IT field and holds two associate's degrees, a bachelor's degree, and a master's degree. In addition to co-writing the first and second editions of Security Administrator Street Smarts, Michael has written or co-written

When not consulting, teaching, or writing, Michael enjoys muscle cars and has opened a slot in his garage for a new project.
